We want to create a community of mutual aid around Helium and extend the coverage of the network in French-speaking regions.
To do this, we provide various tools (website, discord, social networks, community maps, etc.).
We're system and network engineers by training, and some are web developers.
We support the extension of the LoRaWAN network and the development of use cases.
This page aims to help you understand what the Helium network is and how the operation of the HNT works.
We share our experiences, recommendations and information regarding equipment, access points and antennas.
Helium is a distributed global network of "hotspots" or "miners" that creates long-range public wireless coverage for devices IoT compatible with LoRaWAN. The Helium blockchain is a new public, open source blockchain created entirely to encourage the creation of physical and decentralized wireless networks.
The Helium blockchain is based on a new original working algorithm called “Proof of Coverage” or “PoC”. This rewards minors in HNT. The native cryptocurrency of the Helium blockchain.
Today, the Helium blockchain and its tens of thousands of hotspots (see the map) provide access to the largest public and decentralized LoRaWAN network in the world.
For now, the Helium blockchain redistributes 5 million HNT per month (2.5 million in August 2021), to network players. This redistribution is distributed as follows (rewards):
1. CHALLENGERS: 0.95%
Hotspots are chosen by the network to issue challenges (encrypted messages) over the Internet to a target group of Hotspots. Challenges are used by the Proof-of-Coverage algorithm to validate wireless coverage.
2. PROOF-OF-COVERAGE: 5,31%
Hotspots earn a share of HNT by participating in Proof-of-Coverage and validating the wireless coverage of their counterparts. The amount earned by each Hotspot depends on how often it directly participates in Proof-of-Coverage activities.
3. WITNESSES: 21,24%
Hotspots that monitor and report Proof-of-Coverage activity from other Hotspots receive a share of HNT based on the amount of activity they witnessed.
4. DATA TRANSFERRED ON THE NETWORK: 32.50%
HNTs are distributed to Hotspots which transfer data from devices on the network. The amount of HNT is distributed proportionally according to the amount of data transferred by a Hotspot.
5. CONSENSUS GROUP: 6%
Hotpots are randomly elected within the Consensu Group to perform tasks, including validating transactions and publishing new blocks for the blockchain. Group members receive a portion of the 6% distributed to
Consensus Group.
The Helium network
The network is currently being deployed across the world (little data from IoT sensors passes through the Helium network for the moment). Currently, the most profitable activity in HNT is to deploy hotspots to obtain “Proof of Cover” (POC) type rewards.
Each Hotspot tries to connect to neighboring Hotspots (minimum 300 meters away). The more connections there are and therefore the network coverage, the more HTNT your Hotspot will generate.
You can check each of the Hotspots and their rewards (by day, month, year) here.
The Helium Hotspot app
The Helium blockchain uses a system based on accounts, wallets and balances.
You have several options to create your Helium wallets and manage their private keys.
If you are using the "Helium Hotspot" application (iOS, Android), your private key is locally encrypted and can be recreated on another mobile device using a twelve word phrase (acting as a password) generated when creating it.
IF YOU LOSE THIS PASSWORD, THE BALANCE ON YOUR WALLET WILL BE LOST FOREVER.
So remember to keep this sequence of 12 words in a secure place.
Below are the hotspot models that have been community approved and tested by Helium so far.
We invite you to read our guide on the subject.

It is currently the only cryptocurrency based on something tangible, not virtual.
The short answer is that blockchain and group consensus are the arbiter of the network. As the network grows rapidly, many changes are underway to accommodate its growth, so that the Helium blockchain is still operational. These changes are known as HIPS, which are free documents, where anyone can propose to make their changes to the blockchain. You will find the list here.
To do this, follow our article guide to support you in this process.
The HNT currency and the Helium project as a whole are actively developing but this technology is still in its infancy. The idea of using a blockchain to create a global decentralized connected network is revolutionary, the world of crypto is extremely volatile, risks are always present.
All costs are included when purchasing an access point. 40$ for activation and 10$ for localization. If you move your hotspot, you will have to spend 10$ again.

Between 8 and 23 NST / day from March 2021. After Halving it will be halved.
The important thing with Helium is to understand how to actually use the service. What kind of data can you collect, what kind of sensors should you use, how can you offer this as a service? Put an answer to all of this and your Hotspots will generate more.
If you do not yet have your Hotspot (s) you can perform a simulation via this online calculator. If you already have your Hotspot (s) you can check this directly via the mobile application Helium.
Not really. It's not like you can get a more powerful miner that will net you more. The biggest difference is when they will arrive, which depends on how quickly they can be made.
Do not hesitate to follow our guide regarding the general explanation for antennas.
The answer is YES, indeed you are normally required to declare on your tax the amount of crypto currency collected for the current year. Whether through investment or mining. The tax is 30% of the total earnings.
This time the answer is NO, as long as you keep your HNT in the form of crypto or in any other crypto currency (BNB ETH etc ...) the tax only applies when you transfer your crypto to your Bank account.
Indeed, depending on your geographical area, the laws may be different from one country to another, some standards are not necessarily identical. Inform yourself well on the subject, use sources and official texts of laws of your Country.
